Honmachi in Shibuya Ward, just west of Shinjuku, provides excellent transportation access. It’s primarily served by Nishi-Shinjuku-Gochome Station (Toei Oedo Line), with Hatsudai (Keio New Line) and Nakano-Sakaue (Marunouchi/Oedo Lines) also nearby. Major hubs like Shinjuku Station and Tochomae Station (Toei Oedo) are often within walking distance.

Shinjuku Station is very close: about 2-4 minutes by train (Oedo/Keio New Lines from respective nearby stations) or roughly a 15-30 minute walk depending on location. Access times to other key areas are approximately: Otemachi/Marunouchi (25-30 min), Ginza (30 min), Shibuya (15-20 min), and Ikebukuro (15-20 min), typically with one transfer.

The area benefits from proximity to Shinjuku’s vast commercial/entertainment offerings and Tochomae’s government offices, while maintaining a more residential feel. Convenient car access includes nearby Shuto Expressway entrances for Route 4 and the Central Circular Route (C2).

The area around the building feels very safe and reassuring, as there are convenience stores nearby and a police box (‘Koban’) right next door.

Honmachi’s Convenience

Living Convenience:

Honmachi (Shibuya Ward) offers a practical and convenient living environment. It functions primarily as a residential district located directly adjacent to the major commercial and transport hub of Shinjuku Station and the business center around the Tochomae (Tokyo Metropolitan Government) area. While it may lack major tourist attractions, its strength lies in its excellent accessibility and essential local amenities. Main streets feature a variety of everyday eateries, convenience stores, supermarkets (like Marusho, Santoku), and services catering to residents. Stepping onto the side streets reveals quieter neighborhoods primarily composed of apartment buildings and condominiums, offering a calm residential atmosphere close to the city center. Nearby green spaces include local parks, and the expansive Shinjuku Chuo Park is also reasonably accessible. In terms of safety, Honmachi is considered a generally safe, standard Tokyo residential area, served by local koban (police boxes) under the relevant police jurisdiction. While areas closer to major roads experience more traffic, the inner streets typically maintain a quieter feel. Real resident feedback often includes comments like, “Being able to walk or quickly reach Shinjuku Station is incredibly convenient for work and commuting,” “There’s a good selection of supermarkets and local shops for daily needs,” “Having easy access to the Oedo line is a big plus,” “It’s more reasonably priced than living right in central Shinjuku or Shibuya,” and “It’s a highly functional and well-connected base for living in Tokyo.” The area appeals strongly to singles, couples, and professionals who prioritize excellent transport links to Shinjuku and other business districts, alongside practical urban living at a relatively accessible price point for this central location.
